Why I’m focusing on building a strong personal brand

From day one in real estate, I’ve made it my absolute goal to build a strong personal brand through digital and social media.

Over the past 2 years I have been fortunate enough to work with some of brightest video marketing minds in Wellington consistently producing video content which, in our minds is market leading.

That being said, I was pretty darn scared to begin this new venture, but I knew in order to attract a positive public reaction (and sales leads) being authentic was the only way.

Fast forward 2 years and 40 videos later, the brand I endeavoured to develop in the real estate landscape is beginning to take shape.

Why I wanted to value add instead of being transactional online

“Thinking of selling? Call me now”.

This tagline is synonymous with real estate agents and it’s something which aids in the public perception of greed. Far too many real estate agents are transactional and neglect the fact their job is to add value to each and every transaction that they are fortunate enough to be a part of.

Giving value upfront was a big thing for me, whether that be in the form of laughter or information my content always had a purpose and that is to ‘give’ never take.

Trust is the biggest factor in my job and building a brand means building trust. All the great brands in the world whether it be Nike or Mcdonald's have a trust factor attached which attracts consumers and creates sales.

Trust in the process, trust in the product and trust in the end result is a simple recipe for attracting and maintaining clients.

The only thing is it can take years to build a strong personal brand, but I'm prepared to wait.

Really keen to hear from other business people out there trying to build a strong personal brand. Any tips?
